Air Supply and Australian Beef Pure Heaven for Koreans

16/12/2004

The two hottest things in Korea right now are Air Supply and Australian beef.
That would be Air Supply, the iconic Aussie 80’s soft rock band, and Hoju Chungjung Woo, Australia’s popular beef brand in Korea.

At first glance you could be excused for thinking the two have absolutely nothing in common – apart from being loved by Koreans, of course – but Meat & Livestock Australia is about to change that.
In a first for both the Australian music and beef industries, Air Supply and Hoju Chungjung Woo are joining forces to give 3,000 Koreans an all-Aussie music and beef extravaganza.

Air Supply will be holding two concerts in Korea this weekend – one a more intimate dinner show for a 1,000 people and the other a concert for 2,000 fans.
The dinner show will feature Hoju Chungjung Woo on the menu and the band members will be actively promoting Australian beef throughout the event. A Hoju Chungjung Woo promotional video will also be played twice during the show.

MLA’s Regional Manager Korea Glen Feist said the Australian beef industry jumped at the chance to have their product share the stage with Air Supply.
What we have is two great Australian exports coming together to give Koreans a feast for their senses. Iconic Aussie music and delicious Aussie beef in the one place – it doesn’t get better than that, Mr. Feist said.

This really is a fantastic opportunity because we will have 1,000 people eating our product and this product is being endorsed by members of Air Supply.
With classic hits like ‘All out of love’, ‘Every woman in the world’ and ‘Making love out of nothing at all’, Air Supply were hugely popular in Australia and around the world during the 80’s and this huge following still continues in Korea.

Koreans love Air Supply – they are hugely popular over here. Koreans also love Australian beef - only last week Hoju Chungjung Woo was judged as the leading meat brand in Korea,” Mr. Feist said.

When translated Hoju Chungjung Woo means “Clean and safe Australian beef”. Korea is Australia’s third largest export market for beef. Australia exported 62,300 tones of beef to Korea last year and this is forecast to grow a further 30% to 90,000 tones this year.
